Nom Nom!

Celebrated Liling's birthday at Tea Cosy last Sunday!
Its at Plaza Singapura, level 5, beside Spotlight.
Decor wise, I thought they spent quite a huge effort on it. It was quite well decorated.
With the statues and figurines all over the shop.

This is my dinner then. Something chicken toasted sandwich, with chips.
Nothing spectacular about the dish. Alvin taught me to eat the sandwich with the chips, it did gave me a new experience and taste of the sandwich. But overall, the food didn't have any WOW factor that will draw me back for it.

Then we headed to PAUL's again.

Look at the desserts we ordered! I love all of them! The fruit tarts tastes like egg tarts filling though. The lemon custard tasted too sour, but I quite fancy sour stuff, so it was alright. Furthermore, the desserts were all sweet stuff, so the sour dessert sort of neutralize the sweetness a bit. The cake was something walnut, which was offered to us cos some of the items we ordered was out of stock. It was not bad, with some walnuts in between the cake. And it wasn't that sweet afterall. My favourite among all these was the chocolate tart at the far end! The chocolate is dark chocolate! It wasn't that sweet, and it tasted a little bitter, which makes it more edible (imagine eating a whole chocolate tart that is so sweet). And I love dark chocolate too! So it was a pleasant dessert spree!!

Oh, and this arrived late. Creme bulee. The caramel on top was too too too sweet for me to handle. The "cream" below was alright, tasted like runny egg tart. Haha. But it was not that bad too.

I discovered a new favourite drink! I went to eat Lai Lai again after gym.
Had their set lunch ($6.90) and it comes with a freeze. I chose red bean freeze!
It tasted like Potong ice cream, red bean flavor! It was really nice!!
I'll return to try their green bean freeze soon! I feel that it's comparable to the red bean soy shake sold in Jolliebean. Both have their own unique taste which attracts me! I LOVE RED BEANS!

 my new favorite!

The black pepper chicken chop. The black pepper was not hot at all. So it was bearable for me.
The portion was quite huge. And with the drink, you will definitely feel full!

Finally

I am finally slightly more free after completing some tests.

This shop sells some exploding cream puffs!! I tried their durian puffs!! You must really gobble the whole puff in a mouth, if not the durian filling will drip out!! I tried the first one and the filling flew out of the puff!! Wasted! I tried the second puff in one mouth, the filling just exploded in my mouth!! And it's nice!!!

I ate the puff quite some time ago and it's definitely worth mentioning.

Anyway, before tuition yesterday, I went to get this smoothie from Berrylite, a yoghurt shop in Novena Square. For $6.50 I got two small cups of smoothie because it's one-for-one Wednesday. If I only paid $6.50 for a cup of smoothie I would think that it's super not worth the money.

The smoothie tasted alright, quite thick, which is to my liking. But there were ice bits inside which makes it difficult to suck it up. And the portion is too small. I tried the kiwi and mango smoothie, two separate ones. I would go back for it only if the portion is bigger. $6.50 for a small cup is way too expensive, and not satiating.

Morning adrenaline rush!

It was 530am in the cold, raining morning when my parents and brother woke up. The flight was 720am. First thing that came to mind was "OMG!". Couldn't get a cab through phone, luggage couldn't be closed, dad couldn't find his specs. Everyone was in a frantic mode. Everything happened way too fast, as though we were fleeing some war ground. Within 10min, they left home for the airport, and silence set in once again. My brother left for US for his internship, and will be back in 3 months time.

An afternoon in Orchard.

A late post.

TCC's seafood pasta.
Nice and crunchy soft shell crab! There were also one mussel, a few fish, prawns and clams. If the sauce for the pasta was stronger and thicker it would be perfect for my taste buds!

PAUL's desserts!
Level 3 of Takashimaya
Lemon Meringue if I get the spelling right.
The lemon custard below this egg white cloud thing definitely improved my appetite for more desserts!! As it is a dessert, the sweetness level was good and even better with the tinge of sourness in it. YUM!

Chocolate waffle. Very disappointing. The waffles paled terribly in comparison to the other desserts on the table that day. I would rather spend money on Gelare's, Ice Cube's or Prima Deli's waffles. The waffle was hard! I felt like I was eating biscuits. Quite bad. The only good thing was the chocolate sauce. It tastes like Nutella.

4 flavor tea. Went well with the sweety stuff we ate. Refreshing!

I can't remember the name of this. But the chocolate snapped between the biscuits were dark chocolate. NICE! It wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. It suits you if you can't really tolerate very sweet desserts.

Riders!

Sunday at Rider's with my Rebels!

 Blackstone benedict.

I love the eggs! I love the tomatoes! The combination of the eggs, tomatoes, bacon and the sourdough bread is great! The tomatoes were a little sour, which went well with the eggs! I love yolks which are half done! You can see a few horses walking along the roads while you drive. Quite a sight!
It's quite packed on a Sunday morning, so have to make reservations before heading down. And, I doubt there's straight transport there, unless you drive. Price was a little big high.

This dim sum is not bad too! At Chinatown Food Complex. You have to take the number card and wait for your turn to be called before you place order. They only sell har gao, siew mai, chu chang fen, chicken feet and char shao baos. The queue is quite long, and we waited for almost 30mins before it;s our turn. The har gao and siew mai are great! The prawn was big and fresh, and the skin was just nice. The siew mai is also good! The meat wasn't those paste kind, its like those in lor mai gai. They all tastes fresh!

Weiying's preparation for her blogshop! All the best!

Chuan Wang Fu 川王府

*no photos entry*

I finally finished my lab report!

Had Steamboat at Chuan Wang Fu 川王府 (beside Paya Lebar Methodist Church) with jc clique.

I thought the steamboat was not bad, the meat they offer were extremely thinly sliced. So you just have to put it in and wave it around for a few times and you can eat it. I think it's one of the nicer steamboats I ate! Compared to the 7th storey steamboat which was extremely lousy! (shall write a post on that about their service and food std though it happened 2 weeks ago!)

Back to 川王府, though we did not eat their ma la soup based because some of them cannot eat beef and we cannot mix the food together so we decided to have a two non-spicy soups, which were good too! The variety of food was acceptable, there were mutton, beef, pork, chicken, fish, mussels, intestines and the list goes on. I thought the meat were quite fresh. And they have one cold plate, something with pork, which I liked a lot. And their mango pudding and longan cheng theng was not bad too! Besides, the place was not very stuffy nor was it very cold. It was just right. The waiters/ waitress could be more lively though.

Overall, I thought it is comparable to crystal jade xlb buffet just that this place has no xlb. Paid $22.50 per person, would be cheaper if you don't order drinks.

The parasites!

I'm done drawing the parasites for my LSM 4223 report!

After a test

This was what I had after a CA..

Lai Lai Casual Dining high tea set after gym..
Shou Zhua Bing (with ham)
Can choose from a few toppings. Its actually quite big, which sort of fill up my stomach.
Its roti prata wrapped with eggs and ham. Haha. I thought it was quite nice, though a bit bland. But there's this brown sauce by the side which is very salty, so can dip it and enhance the flavor. If I am not wrong, the brown sauce should be some Japanese sauce used for the takoyaki balls.

Strawberry yoghurt drink.
The high tea set comes with any choice of drink! Super worth it! The set cost $5.50+ and the drink on ala carte alone cost more than that. This set is worth especially if you do not want something very heavy like rice or noodles. They have other sets too, like eggs with hashbrown and sausages.

Baskin Robins! (Green tea, chocolate mint and rocky road)
Dinner with pq and daniel was at Novena, and then headed on to our favorite hideout - Baskin Robins!
Still preferred Korea's because it's way cheaper. lol.

i love cny 2!

 Melissa's mum treated us to...

Yu Sheng from Hooked on Heads! Very fresh and nice!
There were melon sugars inside (冬瓜糖)!

 Keropok! 遍地黄金! HAHA!

 Lao for a prosperous cny!

Hooked on Heads shrimp paste chicken wings and some ngor hiang!
Tasted the ngor hiang, quite nice. There was a big chunk of water chestnut inside which gave the crunchiness.
But could be smaller.

Fish Maw Soup!! My favourite!! Although the fish maw were not very very soft, it was acceptable!
The broth was nice too!! Quite thick. I thought I was at some wedding ceremony tasting Shark's Fin.

Curry Fish Head! Quite a large portion. The fish was fresh! Curry was not very spicy. Just nice!

Chap chye.

Sambal Kang Kong.

Group photo with Mervy Quek who is in Finland doing exchange!

Thanks Melissa's mum!

Lo Hei!

We "lo-hei"-ed with ChaeWon yesterday at Utown Graduate Residence!
Introduced her to this Singapore tradition.

We were saying how large the portion was and then in a blink..all gone.

Bought this yusheng from Sakae Sushi. It was meant for 2-3pax, but when we poured everything in, it looks like it can feed 5people (that's depending on how much you can eat). To me, it can feed 5. It's really tasty I would say. Loved their sauce, its not too sour nor is it overly sweet!! Thankfully I called in to ask if they sell yusheng off the shelf, because we must pre-order at least 30mins in advance if we want to buy it.

Adam Road Food Centre Nasi Lemak

Had lunch with Kenny at Adam Road Food Centre today.
The queue was long, the wait is even longer because people usually buy more than one plate, especially those who are taking away. There's a reason for that definitely, and after eating it, I think it's the rice!

 This is Sutra's special ($4.50).
The Nasi Lemak is actually nice! The Nasi (rice) has a strong but not overwhelming coconut smell, which is better than the one at Punggol Nasi Lemak (at Kovan), in my opinion. If you are comparing the grain size, the one at Punggol Nasi Lemak has bigger rice grains. Haha.

Ingredients wise, I would say they taste about the same, just that at Punggol Nasi Lemak, you have more variety to choose from (so it's like tze char/ mixed vegetable rice). Whereas in Adam Road Food Centre, the Nasi Lemak are sold in sets (Otah set, Chicken set etc.) All of which has the basic Nasi Lemak ingredients (peanuts, ikan bilis, cucmber, egg and of course the chilli!), only the main lead is different (chicken/ otah/ both/ both + mutton rendang).

Went to Raffles Town Club for a catch up session after lunch.
Felt like I was overseas, with nothing to worry about.

Thanks ChaeWon for the gifts from Europe!

Frolick Thursday!

Went to the gym and it was full of people! But managed to do what I wanted.
Highlight of the day - Frolick Frozen Yogurt!

Original flavor with multi-grains topping!
Yum yum! I think this is the best combination if you need something crunchy!
But you might not be able to taste the yogurt as the multi-grains taste overwhelmed the yogurt's taste slightly.

Bad day

As the title suggest. It's not a good day today.

Went for lecture and couldn't understand what the lecturer was talking about.
He just sped through the lecture.

After lecture, I went to take the MRT to Mount Faber Safra to collect my e-mart stuff.
While standing on the escalator, the escalator suddenly stopped!! Scared the hell out of me!! Fortunately I held on to the railings immediately, if not I would have rolled down the long escalator at Kent Ridge MRT! AND DIE!! Thankfully there wasn't any elderly behind me or on the escalator, it would terrible if they fall and worse still roll down and knock everyone on the escalator!!!

At Mount Faber, I was greeted by a staff whom I thought was friendly. It turned out that she was more grumpy than me!
I just asked her, "Miss, if my shoe size is not correct can I change?"
Any normal sales person or cashier or retail worker would say yes, within how many days or simply apologise and say no. But this particular staff said, "didn't you check your shoe size before you ordered online?"
I'm like 0_0? Check online? Like how? Put my feet on my computer screen?
(Yes, I know my shoes size but some shoes have different cutting)
And she added,"that's the problem with you all, don't want to check before you order."
Can't be bothered with her anyway. Poor service attitude!!

I hope I can wake up from the right side of the bed tomorrow!

Blue Monday

Very random post.
I realized I was wearing blue shirt, blue slippers and my file, water bottle and pencil case are all blue.
Thankfully my Monday wasn't blue.

Brother's concert

Went to NUS Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music Hall to watch my brother's band concert today (Ngee Ann Concert Band). Not bad. Quite a relaxation for a Sunday evening. Just some random thoughts. From what I hear from my friends, I thought that during a performance, there should not be people with highlighted hair colour? And why do the band members have to change their seats every now and then?

Raindrops keep falling over on my head

File:Turning Point 2 poster.jpg

Finally watched my laughing gor returns movie!
It wasn't very bad, neither was it superbly fantastic.
But as an avid fan of HK shows, I thought this was not bad. Could be better though.
Overall nice show.

Dinner was at Raindrops Cafe at Scape.

Interior of Raindrops Cafe

Drumlets (6pcs). In my opinion, it wasn't very nice. It was too dry.
KFC tasted better. But I loved their chilli sauce. Sweet and not spicy.

Squid Ink Pasta. Not bad, pasta has the squid taste. Seafood was fresh according to Rachel.

My raindrops burger. The burgers were really raindrop size. Quite small. Hence, 3 tiny burgers were not adequate to fill my stomach. Initially I thought the chips they refer to on the description was fries. It turned out to be real chips, which tasted like Jack & Jill chips. No good. The burgers were nice, I love them. They had beef, chicken and fish burgers. I love all of them. Each has their unique flavor! The patties were rather juicy :) If only the burgers could be bigger!

Yx salmon steak. Hmm. In my opinion, it's quite bad! The salmon was very dry. As though all the salmon's fat was drained off while cooking it. I think this standard of salmon can be easily achieved by anyone? Yx was very disappointed with this dish.

As the food wasn't satisfying, we decided to forgo their dessert to avoid further disappointment. Hence, we head to Coffee Club for their mud pie. At least something sweet to lift our mood, and had a great chat!
